I
was asked by London’s Catholic
Truth Society to write
five booklets that explain the Catholic faith to the
man or woman in the street. For a model I turned to
one of my favourite authors—C.S.Lewis. I tried to take
his advice on apologetics on how to talk theology for
ordinary folks. The five books cover: 1.God 2. Jesus
Christ 3. the Holy Spirit 4. Prayer and Sacraments
5. The Church. These books are an excellent resource
to help ‘in the pew’ Catholics to understand their
faith better, but they are also designed as a new resource
for evangelisation. Along with the five booklets is
a ‘seed leaflet’. This is essentially a gospel tract.
It gets the reader to begin asking the basic questions
about life and challenges them to respond by sending
away for the first of the Christianity Pure and
Simple books free of charge. This series isn’t
published in the USA yet, but I am happy to send copies
of the booklets and seed leaflets if you ask. Each
booklet costs £2.00 or $3.50.

and the whole style of this enterprise. It fulfils the

for the hope that is in you, yet do it with gentleness

Christianity Pure&Simple
is a muc needed practical tool to help ordinary
Catholics get involved in the New Evangelisation. The booklets are solid
buy easy to read, and the Seed Leaflet provides an excellent way to reach
the man or woman in the street… what are we waiting for?
